How To: Winter Pole Rigs
If you're looking to get great results on the pole this winter, getting your rigs and terminal tackle right will be a massive head start in your quest for success!
The MAP UK Handmade Pole float range has just got bigger, with five new float patterns available, covering everything from big carp in deep water, right through to f1s and commercial silver fish, the new MAP Deck range of floats has you covered.
We've put together a number of rig and tackle combinations with the help of our MAP consultants, that we feel suit each float best, so you can replicate and catch plenty of fish yourself this winter.
Deck 1
With a teardrop shaped body, the Deck 1 pattern is at home on a range of different venues. With a 1.7mm hollow bristle this pattern is at home fishing pellets on the bottom for carp and f1s as it is fishing maggots for skimmers on the long pole in the winter months.
Built on a IGF110 foam body which is extremely durable, the float also features a wire stem for added stability and to increase strength further, we’ve also added the popular Dura side eye.

Deck 2
Identical in body style as the Deck 1, this pattern is geared more to catching bigger carp on the long pole in deeper water, with a slightly thicker 2mm bristle to support bigger baits and a 1mm glass stem for strength and stability.
Built on a IGF110 foam body which is extremely durable, we’ve also added a Dura side eye to stand up to the demands of catching big fish.

Deck 3
The ultimate all-rounder when it comes to commercial venues! With a slim body profile, the Deck 3 is at home fishing with a wide range of baits from meat and corn to pellets and maggots. With a 2mm hollow bristle and a 1mm glass stem, this float is made for catching big weights.
The IGF110 foam body is the toughest material available and ensures that the float is built to last, combined with a dura side eye, we have created of the strongest commercial pole floats available.

F1 Carbon
The F1 carbon is a great year-round float for fishing on a range of different venues, from commercial to natural waters where sensitivity is required. Slim in body profile with a carbon stem, this float is perfect for fishing with maggots, meat or pellets.
Featuring a 1.7mm hollow bristle, and our super strong IGF110 foam body and dura side eye, the F1 Carbon is a float that you can rely on and take to any venue.

F1 Wire
Similar in shape to the F1 Carbon, this float is ideal when a bit more stability is needed in windier conditions. Well suited to fishing with baits like pellets, meat or maggots the 1.7mm hollow bristle offers great sensitivity all year round.
An IGF110 foam body ensures incredible durability and has enabled us to create possibly the toughest range of pole floats available on the market. To increase the strength even further, we’ve also added a Dura side eye.
